Dear Ashraf,

I have a quick question that I hope you can answer. I'm sure you must be busy being it's tax season and I will greatly appreciate it if you respond.

I would like to write off part of my rent for my business, but the problem is the landlord was illegally renting the room from her house. We have a written lease and I always paid in cash, but I can get receipts from her. Am I still able to write off a portion of my rent? I'm guessing I can because I still paid rent whether or not it was illegally rented or not?

Thank you so much,
Spencer

I own a business and I am also it's Landlord. I am refinancing debt at a lower rate and wonder if I should make the loans in the LLC which is the owner of the building and land and cover the debt by raising the rent, and/or show the amounts going to the corporation as "Loans".???
Thx,
Bob Hicks

I am an intern at a nonprofit arts organization. I am trying to research sponsorship deductability. (Such as, a corporation or individual gives-what are the organization's responsibilities?) The organization wants to make sure they are using the right processes.
Thanks!
